Frequently asked questions
How often does Witness get mailed?
Once a month, via good old USPS. This is snail mail, expect 2 weeks for delivery within USA & up to 6 weeks outside the USA.
When will my first letter arrive?
Signups close two weeks before each mailing, which gives me time to write, print, and pack everything by hand. Join after the 7th of the month, and your first letter goes out with the following month's batch.
Does it auto-renew?
The monthly plan does — it renews automatically each month, and canceling anytime is one click, no hoops. The 6- and 12-month packages are one-time purchases: they run for the length you bought and then simply end, no auto-renewal, no action needed on your end.
Can I send this as a gift?
Yes — and honestly, it might be the best use for it.
Witness is built for the person who needs a nudge: the friend who keeps almost booking that flight, the sibling with forty places saved and zero trips taken, anyone who lights up talking about somewhere they want to go but hasn't gone yet. Enter their name and address at checkout, and every month it shows up in their mailbox — a story, two photos, something to hold, and a little push to go see something themselves.
And if you're the one reading this thinking "that's me" — good. Get it for yourself. Some of the best nudges are the ones you give yourself.
Do you mail outside the US?
Yes. International subscribers get everything domestic ones do — the story, both postcards, the sticker, all of it. The one difference: no pre-paid postage on the postcard, since international postage rates vary too much to include. To help cover the higher shipping cost, international subscriptions are $2 more per month.
Is there a tracking number?
Nope — it's snail mail, the old-fashioned way, so USPS doesn't provide tracking on it.
What if my letter doesn't arrive, or arrives damaged?
Give it some time first — USPS can take up to 2 weeks domestically, and up to 6 weeks for international. If it still hasn't shown up after that, or arrives damaged, reach out at tenderfoot.trekker.witness@gmail.com and we'll happily send you another one. We want to make it right.
